JA Films was commissioned to create a special concert film to accompany the much anticipated release of British rock band Coldplay’s album, Ghost Stories. This was the band’s second collaboration with director, Paul Dugdale, and their fourth with executive producer, Julie Jakobek.

The March 2014 concert was filmed in a specially designed amphitheatre housed within Sony Studios, LA, against a backdrop of breathtaking 360-degree and overhead imagery. 800 fans were invited to witness the show.

Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, explained the significance of the event:

“The Ghost Stories show was a very special moment for our band. The magic theatre was literally a dream come true. And it was the first time anyone outside our studio had heard the new songs. This film is basically our original vision for the Ghost Stories album.”

The films were first broadcast in May 2014 as a Coldplay TV Special by major broadcasters around the world, including NBC in the US and Sky Arts in the UK.

The film has since won a Broadcast Award (2015 Best Music Programme) and been nominated for a Grammy Award and a Music Video Award.
